DNA Samples Collected from Accused in Magura Child Rape Case

DNA samples from three accused individuals in a case involving the rape of an eight-year-old girl in Magura were collected on Tuesday night for forensic testing.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mirajul Islam, the samples have been sent to the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) DNA profiling laboratory in Dhaka for analysis.

The case was filed by the survivor’s mother on Saturday, leading to the arrest of all the accused.

The child is currently on life support at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

The incident occurred when the girl visited her sister’s in-laws’ house in Nijnanduali village of Magura Sadar upazila. She initially went to bed with her sister but was later discovered missing during the night. A frantic search ensued, and she was found unconscious a few yards from the house.

She was first admitted to Magura General Hospital but was later transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as her condition worsened. On Thursday, she was moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) before being shifted to CMH.

Meanwhile, university students, including those from Dhaka University, staged demonstrations early on Sunday on their campuses, demanding the death penalty for the accused.

Home Affairs Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the girl at CMH on Sunday and assured that the perpetrators would face justice, stating that the state is committed to ensuring they are not spared.
